Getaway with José

Hi, I’m José. This began as a quiet negotiation between my wife Loly and me — a way to keep discovering the world without needing more than a weekend. What we found is that the shortness of the trip never shrank the wonder of it, and we wanted others to feel that too. So we started filming. Getaway with José is for anyone who doesn’t have two weeks to spare — only a weekend, and the good sense to spend it well. It starts in the various cities, ferries, wine country, and island towns of the Pacific Northwest, and grows from there — to the San Juan Islands, Reykjavík, Tokyo, and beyond.

The Concept

Every episode starts with a spark — an old curiosity, a half-remembered trip, a conversation that wouldn’t let go, or simply the pull of a place never seen. From there, the getaway unfolds across slow, sensory storytelling; sharp detours into local history and hidden mysteries; and warm, unscripted moments with the people who actually live there.

The Promise

A perfect getaway isn’t measured in miles. It’s measured in stories. When the trip ends, the inner search begins: what was surprising, what actually helped to rest, and what quietly shifted in how the world is viewed.
